We warmly invite Scorpion Seal and Werma practitioners to join us for a six-day urban retreat with Acharya Christie Cashman. The retreat will be a continuation of the study of The Kingdom of Sacredness Shambhala Kyerim, with an emphasis on the luminosity of mind, kyerim ayatanas, and overcoming obstacles to practice. Practitioners who have attended Rigden Abhisheka and wish to study this text for the first time are also welcome.
Developing a personal understanding of the luminosity of mind is similar to learning any practice and applying the instructions. We will explore the mind’s natural capacity to relax into itself without grasping toward outer objects of perception. Within this open expanse, the sun rises, allowing one to observe mind’s inherent brilliance and splendor. This heartfelt and inconceivable discovery gradually opens the practitioner to the wisdom ayatanas, the colorful mandala of dralas, and the capacity to work for society for lifetimes.
A sacred journey always includes hindrances or döns. Although superficial in nature, döns can destabilize both our practice and our lives. Understanding the ways in which hindrances manifest, we can be alerted to their presence and keep our integrity. In this way, they can be used to tune into our inherent confidence so that we can move on.
The program will include a lung for the text, dedicated separate Scorpion Seal and Werma practice, daily talks, personal interviews, discussions groups for each year of Scorpion Seal, and guided practice sessions for the Werma practitioners. This retreat counts toward Werma and Scorpion Seal retreat requirements.
